As I said earlier in June I cooperated (writing a chapter and reviewing the whole content) in the draft of the first book ever for Italian developers about Ruby and the Web.
The book is going to be available in the stores before the end of this month so check it out my fellows Italian readers
These are the some of the contents for non Italian readers (some marketing in here…):
- Ruby: the foundations of the language of the future
- Structures and exception handling
- Advanced programming
- CGI scripts
- Beyond PHP: eruby
- Rubygems
- Networking libraries
- Graphics and Images
- XML, RSS, Atom, YAML
- Rake: project automation
- RDTool, RDOC: document your code
…and much much more like ActiveRecord, Mongrel, Webrick, multithreading, security and performances, SOAP, drb, Unit Testing, Ruby 2…
I think I can\’t remember the rest of the topics but I\’m sure you all will check it when it\’ll be available in the store next door
The only complaint I have is about the publisher that for unknown reasons didn\’t want to deal with the co-authors so I have to thank the kindness of the book\’s author to push hard for us… Result? You can find my name inside but not outside… We all love the Italian way
What can I say more? If you happen to be Italian, if you happen to be interested in Ruby and web topics and if you want a solid knowledge of Ruby and its world go buy this book or I\’ll slap you cheeks!
post scriptum muy post: this book does not talk about Ruby on Rails (except for the ActiveRecord stuff). If you want to learn about Rails there\’s plenty of books in English and one or two in Italian.
The Pythonista has spoken.
The book now has an official website: http://www.marcoceresa.com/libroruby/
